Sadly my time Mumbai is down to single digits, only 8 days left till I fly off to Delhi.
So I thought I would share my top 11 highlights of this eye opening trip.
- Being able to visit the slums just a jaw dropping experience, no photos can do it justice. If you ever get the opportunity please take it, it changes your perspective on life.
- Seeing the children, oh bless they are so cute I feel like their big sister, I will miss them and then calling me De De which is sister in Hindi.
- Becoming more adventurous with my food, never did I think I would be eating curry most days, however I’m excited for English food.
- Being able to play sport with the children, just so nice to be able to run around with them while playing football.
- When a rat came in the classroom, I mean it was absolutely massive. We all know how much I love rats! I’ve never jumped on a table so quick with a ruler ready to fight this rat while the children seemed quite calm! I did scream so loudly but I wasn’t surprised. Since this day I’ve not took my eyes off the street
- Getting a lift on a moped, despite at the start feeling like I was going to fall off but having wind blowing in your face is just so nice.
- My many different weekend adventures which is thanks to my friends in the hostle taking me on these adventures to allow me to experience more of Mumbai
- My attempts of learning Hindi with my awful pronunciation it was embarrassing
- Being able to visit the children home and just get to see the bigger picture of what is happening.
- Being able to ride in a Tuk Tuk or as known is India an Auto. If anyone now my obsession over this you would know how happy I was. Even better I’ve been in a pink one and then the stranded ones! This I will miss however I’ve been told I can buy one in England so watch out!
- Before even setting over hosting these dinner parties and just being able to see everyone. Best memory from this was either no names some gate crashes or I gave my brother and Archie a simple job of take the crumble out of the oven and it ended up on the floor!!
These are only my top memories I have made. I could be here all day sharing these memories, I’ll save that for when I get back to England! This trip has taught me so much about myself and how lucky I am at home.
I will definitely miss seeing these children, but I’m hoping my dream will come true which I hope to share with you guys soon, just need to get some fundamental elements come together to allow this to happen.
