“Chasing Stars: Suraj’s journey to make his dreams a reality”

Suraj was born into a middle-class family. His father, Ramlal Yadav runs a milk dairy, while his mother, Dharamshala, is a housewife. Suraj has two brothers and sisters. Suraj started studying in 6th standard. But he used to have fun and did not pay attention to his studies. He was very weak in Hindi and maths.

Suraj joined Magic Bus in April 2024. Initially, he had a lot of fun and troubled other children. But the Magic Bus team made him understand and gave him life skills sessions.• Since he joined Magic Bus, Suraj has been able to concentrate on his studies more, his understanding of Maths and Hindi has improved, and he is more respectful to other children, Suraj is working so much harder which will allow him to achieve his dream.

Suraj’s dream is wanting to become a black commando when he grows up. His family members support and approve of this. Suraj’s success story teaches us that if we work hard and take the right guidance, we can make our dreams come true.

From listening to what Suraj has told me, I’m so grateful that Magic Bus can support these less privileged children to allow them to have extra support to then make them realise that they can achieve their dreams. Magic Bus want to reach out to more children and allow them to achieve their dreams they can’t do this alone. If you want to make a difference to a less privileged child, then please donate to my Just Giving page a tiny amount of money will go a long way, and Magic Bus will seriously appreciate it. Let’s get children out of the slums and allow them to chase their dreams.

Without Magic Bus and myself, children like Suraj and Rajkums would never be able to write these sentences in English. We’re still working on the grammar but I have seen a massive improvement to the children’s English which is so rewarding to see.

Knowing that children don’t understand what an adjective is, especially at the age of 12, was so surprising to me. Without Magic Bus these children would be struggling in school and probably drop out which is going to cause the slum size to increase, which is not what we want. Just imagine you or your children being in this situation would you want them in this situation, I guess not so why let these unfortunate children be in this position? Let’s work together to get these children out of the slums, I am not asking much.
