Chilled morning at the Dharavi Community Centre.

This morning I was based in the Dharavi Community. Due to the school holidays and exams, Magic Bus has had a reduced programme. The community centre has been open for any of the children to drop in and just hi or ask, come for a chat or just ask questions.

This morning three children have come in which is just nice to see that children are still coming despite not being told to come. I have been able to record the children’s views on Magic Bus which I will share once I have worked out how to translate Hindi! This seems to be harder than expected, I am just expanding my technology skills! By doing this I have been able to pick up some Hindi but still can’t have a conversation with the children. I have one more week to master this, no pressure at all!

The children have also come in and just sat down and did some artwork. This is something which they seem to really enjoy. They have been able to chat with each other while making some cards. The cards which the children are making do look so good, better than anything which I could ever do! The children are so creative, and love to use different coloured pens and just draw which is just so nice to see.

It was so nice to see some of the children come and drop in after school and show the teachers what they have been doing in school. To me, this shows how much the community centre is for the children.

This was the children participating in their artwork.
