Let me just picture the scene. I was with my friend just talking and all of a sudden what I thought was a bomb went off and may I started. I was in shock over this bomb to then get told it’s fireworks! Ops silly me, but think you may get why I said that as was unaware of a party happening!
The reason to why this party was happening was due to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Birthday. Despite he has passed away this birthday is s celebrate in India due to his significant.
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar is recognises by his fought against discrimination and his efforts to empower marginalised communities.
The reason for the celebration is to reaffirm the constitutional values of liberty, equality and fraternity to which he was able to achieve.
Ambedkar Jayanti is a public holiday in many states of India including Mumbai, where events like possessions, community gatherings and tributes are paid to this person.
I was able to watch the community possession where there was loud live music being played and people dancing. When it got darker there was one massive firework display. This party went on until midnight, however the time it stopped you had the drums still in your ears so getting a good night sleep was difficult! This was so interesting to witness and just see the community come together to carry the tradition of celebration this.
