I’ve had the privilege to be able to speak to Saba about her experience with Magic Bus and how it’s allowing her to chase her dreams of becoming a teacher, to which she wants to share her experience to inspire the next generation of children who live in Dharavi.
Saba is 12 years old and lives in Dharavi which is the largest slum in the world. She lives with her mum and dad, with two brothers and a sister, with her being the youngest. Her mum is a housewife and her dad is a tailor.
The challenges which Saba faced before she was approached by the Magic Bus Foundation were solving maths problems and reading Hindi texts. Since she was struggling at mainstream school, Magic Bus approached her in 2024 where she has seen many benefits.
Since April 2024, Saba has had regular attendance at Magic Bus. From speaking to her she shared “I’ve started to enjoy her studies due to the different ways in which Magic Bus teaches me.” With her enjoying her studies more this has allowed her to have full focus on her studies. When speaking to one of her teachers they said “Saba has never given up she has worked hard to overcome her weakness. She has been able to find help from her teachers and family members.” With the extra support from Magic Bus this has allowed Saba to solve math problems easier and read Hindi text with ease.
After being able to talk to Saba and her teacher, there is one key message which is that if you work hard you can overcome your weaknesses and take steps in the right direction to achieve your goals.
If you feel inspired by Saba story and want to make a difference to the next generation of children who are in the slums then please donate using the link below. However big or small your donation is this will make a massive difference in a child’s education.
