After having a full-on week teaching children English and playing sports with them I had a well-deserved weekend off! So off I went to see the Gateway of India.
The Gateway of India is special to Indians for many reasons. First of all, it’s a Historical Significance. The Gateway of India was built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to India in 1911. It symbolizes the British colonial era in India, but it is also the site of a significant historical event. Second of all, it Symbol of Unity. The Gateway represents a symbol of unity and strength. Over time, it has become a major tourist attraction and a symbol of the city of Mumbai. It attracts visitors from all over the world and plays a key role in representing the culture and spirit of the city. The final fact I have about the Gateway of India is that it has a vibrant cultural hub. This is because it’s surrounded by many significant landmarks, including the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, and is often part of various cultural and public events, making it a lively spot for both locals and tourists.
When I got told about this it was one of those I think I must go and visit once to say I’ve done it!

Unfortunately, the Gateway of India was under construction but I will be going back as I walked past it quite a lot and if the construction has finished, I will go in and get a better photo.
