After a very busy week volunteering, I had a slower start today! In the morning, I chilled in my room, just sorting out some lessons for the next week and investigating what there is to do in Mumbai while I am out here.
As I said in my last blog, I tried Maggi, and I was going to be adventurous in my food I will take this back! So lunch I had a spaghetti carbonara with garlic bread and cheese, this was amazing just what I needed. I do promise I will be more adventures but sometimes I just need some good old English food!
After having lunch, I decided I couldn’t just sit in my room the whole day and said to myself, you’re not making the most of the time you have here. So, I set off on a walk to the Marine Causeway to sit by on the edge where I was the other day and enjoy the views. But I decided to walk the whole length and find a beach called Chowpatty Beach. To my surprise, this was an hour or so, but I guess due to the heat, I was not able to walk as quickly as I’m used to. Once I reached the beach, I had to dip my feet in, to my surprise, the water wasn’t too cold I called it a refreshing temperature, with gentle waves. The only downside I have of the beach is that due to how many people were there, it was crowded and people littered in the sea but this is very normal in India. After my dip in the sea, I sat on the beach and just took in all the views, knowing I was on the other side of the Causeway, I could see where I had been staying.
On my way home, I made a quick detour to the Wankhede Stadium, which is where Mumbai Indians are playing their home IPL matches, which I am hoping to watch while I am out. With an extra detour, my walk ended up longer, maybe because I also thought I knew the area better and tried to take a shortcut, this did backfire! But I finally reached my hostel, where I had a lovely cold shower as I was sweaty, which I deserved after a 10 KM walk in 31 degrees.

This is the view from the side of the Causeway which I’ve been staying on.

There were also markets at the beach which were selling the traditional buckets and spades, alongside your normal Indian market items.

Just more pictures of the amazing view that I was able to experience.

This was my lunch which just hit the spot for me.
