At the start of the lesson we started off with some we placing some maths sums on the board for the children to either complete in their book or come and do it. This was done to allow me to see where the children are with maths.
Once I worked this out I was able to play maths bingo but with a twist. We spilt the class into two groups. I set math questions to do. I numbered all the questions and the children also have each other a number. If I said that number the children came up and it was a race to see how got the answer to the sum first. We did keep score with the left hand side of the classroom wining.
After I got the children to come out and write a sum on the board. The children then came up and solved it. They had to show their working incase they were wrong.

This was at the end of the lesson where the children made math puzzles for each other to solve.

This was the bingo with the twist game format.

This is where the children are solving the math problem to then find the correct number within the grid. If they got it wrong and came first they got 0 points

This was at the start of the lesson where the children came up and solved the math problem.

Some of the girls at the end of the lesson stayed and so we played basically an Indian version of monopoly. The reason for this is that it’s a fun way for the children to practice their maths skills while having fun.
