Learning Hindi!

Knowing that I’m here teaching the children English I thought why not turn and learn some Hindi! Before anyone asks it’s way harder than I thought. The way it’s written is so pretty, however that will not be happening as I’ve only just learnt a few key sentences in Hindi!

So I was sat down and got told repeat after me, it was so funny as I had such a British accent saying these phases. But we got there slowly, breaking the phrases down I could say it! So it was time to put it to the test!

The children came in for the afternoon session and started saying Hindi to them, first they were so confused and second they didn’t get what I was saying! They were so cute over me as just smiled, when I get a word all the children started clapping. I got put on the spot when one of the other teachers came in and I had to speak Hindi to them, I did try but it didn’t end too well the conversation got too complicated for my book I was reading off!

There is one sentence I have mastered which is I am from England! I can even say it correctly well for an English speaker! If anyone asks me a question my response is always that, even if it’s not relevant!!

Before anyone asks I will not be coming home speaking Hindi, I’ll just stick to English!!

The deal was if I was able to nail some of these phases I would be taught more. So this weekend I am spending time practicing for Monday where I’m waking in and just going to speak every Hindi phase and word I can think of, even if it doesn’t make sense!

This is what I was being taught, it was simple in a way as each word was broken down it’s just how you pronounce the different words!
